Wow, that headline is a bit of a tongue-twister!

I spied this beautiful crib over on Fawn & Forest yesterday and thought it was definitely worth mentioning. Just like yesterday’s post on the YiAhn convertible bassinet, this new cot/crib from Cariboo can “transform” into a toddler bed or a sofa with the right accessories. That’s a big plus for parents looking to invest in some quality furniture that will last a matter of years, instead of months.

Besides it’s impressive looks, the Kiwi is also made from sustainable Radiata timber with a biodegradable, earth-friendly finish.

There are, unfortunately, a couple of downsides. One, this crib is shipping from New Zealand — so, regardless of it’s eco-friendly properties, it will already carry a hefty carbon footprint. Two, it will set you back a staggering $1,559.00. However (and for some, this matters), it is a quality piece of furniture that can be used for many, many years to come. One of the adjectives used to describe it is “heirloom” and certainly, this crib could serve generations.

The best way for any parent to go green is to simply buy or receive used items. However, if after viewing the UPPAbaby 2009 Vista Stroller you find yourself reaching for your wallet, I completely understand.

What’s so cool about the Vista is that it’s essentially two products in one. You get both a bassinet and seat — which are interchangeable. Our baby bouncer is the best hand-me-down we ever received for our three month old. It’s basically our backup plan for those moments when Indy will not sleep in his crib. If I have one complaint, however, it’s that to rock the thing, you need to be bending over and moving it with your hand. There’s no real easy way to get a foot involved if you’re sitting on the couch and the baby is rocking near your feet.

Ah, but as indicated by the title, the Svan Bouncer (which looks like the something a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner would give birth to) has a bouncy foot option — and an adjustable seat for sleep or playtime. Here’s the description from The Little Seed website,

Kistner is targeting women for their new recycled cashmere eye pillows, but guys should not be too quick to dismiss such a relaxing luxury as “women only”. Just like the heated back pad, a warm eye pillow can help soothe the mind and knock out any stress accompanying it.

Anyways, enough of a plug for eye pillows — what we like about Kistner is their use of recycled materials and 100% organic flax seed filling. Designs for baby cribs don’t generally stretch the imagination too much. Unless, of course, you’re looking to spend above $1K — then, things start to get interesting. Besides being used by Hollywood moms like Nicole Kidman and Camila Alves, the Market Sling by Serena and Lily is also a beautiful piece of design. Each one is hand-embroidery on 100% organic cotton and features a “super-soft brushed interior that is gentle against baby’s delicate skin.”

Celebrity Baby Blog recently had an opportunity to review one of the slings and gave it high marks — with the only downsides being its price ($129) and fit potential for more than one parent. From their review,

The color I tested is the Grass/Marigold combination with beautiful hand embroidery in ivory. When 7-month-old Egan, who is teething like crazy, started sucking on the padding, I didn’t worry for a second. It’s all organic cotton and had no “new-car smell” when I opened the pretty gift box it came in. The fabrics are so, so soft and the grass-green and butter-yellow colors are really striking. It’s so pretty that I left it on even after I took the baby out.

Personally, I’ve always found slings to be incredibly handy while attempting (I use that word lightly) to do other work while watching my newborn.
