Sprig’s eco-friendly toys are a pretty incredible mix of earth-friendly materials. There is no paint involved, only natural rubber, and the products are made up of something called “Sprigwood” — a “child-safe bio-composite of recycled wood and reclaimed plastic that has visible wood “flecks” and a fresh, pine scent.” Cool, right?
Fresh off of the Fall 2008 introduction of their Sprig Adventure Series, the company is lauching two new collections with Eco-Trucks, the imaginative Sprig Hollow, and Story Blocks. All of the products involve some interaction — scooping and dumping with the “trucks” line, planting seeds and plowing with “hollow”, and telling stories and building landscapes with Story Blocks. Each vehicle or playset also comes with a funky, chunky character to play with as well.
“We want parents to get outside and spend time with their kids,” says Sprig Toys co-founder and toy industry veteran Chris Clemmer. “And, because Sprig Hollow toys are made from recycled materials, each one presents an opportunity to talk about caring for the earth.”
